How to Upgrade Your Engagement Ring

Your engagement ring is incredibly special, and something that you’ve probably kept near and dear to your heart for years! If you’ve been married for a while, you may be thinking about an upgrade for your ring. You and your spouse likely have saved up more now than when you first got engaged and can afford to spice it up a bit! Whether it’s a special anniversary or just a good time for you financially, upgrading your ring is a great way to add a little pizazz. When people think of upgrading, they usually just think of a bigger diamond. However, there are plenty of other ways to upgrade your ring if you don’t want to touch your center diamond! Below are a few ideas to start thinking about your upgrade.

Enhance your accents

An easy way to upgrade your ring and add a little more sparkle is to incorporate a few diamond accents. Smaller diamonds or stones can be added to either side of your center stone, or added to the entirety of your band to create a completely new look! “Peek-a-boo” accents can also be added into the profile view to create a little something extra, without too much of a dramatic change.

Add Some Color

Back in the day, it was the norm to use only traditional diamonds for your wedding ring. However, in modern times, plenty of different colored stones are used in engagement rings! If you’ve always wanted a pop of color in your ring, now’s your chance. Consider adding sapphire, ruby, or emerald stones to your engagement ring. Using your children’s or spouses’ birthstones can make it even more meaningful. New stones can be added to the band as accents, or perhaps as additional stones to create a three-stone look.

Change the Metal Type

If you love your stone but don’t necessarily love the band anymore, changing up the metal can modernize your ring. If you find that your ring is hard to match with other jewelry or your wardrobe because of the metal, here’s your chance to make it easier to wear with everything. You can even add a band for something extra!

Start From Scratch

This may not be the ideal solution for everyone if you’re sentimental to your original ring, but if you want a full upgrade, there’s always the option of starting over completely! Sometimes this can symbolize the start of a new chapter of your marriage. This way, you can get exactly what you want and have a little fun designing your own ring if you didn’t have that opportunity the first time around!
