The Bostonian Jewelers Custom Design Experience

For over fifty years, our family has taken immense pride in collaborating with our clients to turn cherished visions into handcrafted, lifelong heirlooms. Because we believe in total transparency and complete partnership every step of the way, we have outlined our custom design program standards below to ensure your journey is seamless, exciting, and transparent from concept to final delivery.

1. Collaborative Concepting & Design Iterations

We don't just sell jewelry—we collaborate with you to create it. Following our initial consultation, our master artisans will develop your custom design concept, complete with digital renderings or sketches and an upfront price quote. To honor your vision while keeping your project moving efficiently, your commission includes up to two complimentary rounds of design revisions based on your feedback. Any additional major structural alterations requested after these initial iterations may require an adjusted design timeline or supplemental fee, which we will always communicate transparently.

2. Project Cancellation During the Design Phase

We understand that visions can evolve. However, because our design work involves skilled artisan hours, stone sourcing, and advanced CAD modeling, please note that if you choose to cancel or walk away from the project during the design phase, you will be billed for the design time and services rendered up to that point, which will be deducted from your initial deposit.

3. Final Approval & Production Sign-Off

Once your design is perfected, we will present your final concept and/or physical wax model for your review. Production begins only after you provide your written final approval via email sign-off or our digital approval form. This locks in your exact specifications—including gemstone selections, metal choices, and sizing—authorizing our studio to start handcrafting your bespoke piece.

4. Payment Structure & Transparency

To commence the design and CAD phase, a non-refundable design deposit or initial installment is required, which is applied directly toward the total cost of your custom piece. We maintain complete transparency regarding our pricing, project timelines, and milestones so you will always know precisely where your piece is in our in-house manufacturing schedule.

5. Custom Design Policy & Final Sale Notice

Due to the highly personal and bespoke nature of our custom jewelry, completed custom pieces are created exclusively to your unique specifications and are considered final sale. Consequently, custom-designed items are not eligible for return, exchange, or refund. Your satisfaction is our top priority; if you ever have a concern regarding your finished piece, we invite you to reach out immediately. While returns are not permitted, we are always dedicated to working closely with you to explore adjustment services or alternative solutions that preserve the beauty and character of your special piece.
