Schedule an appointment to meet with our designer in our jewelry store in Boston, or if you’re in the area, please stop by. Walk-ins are welcome! Bring along your inspirational images, elements and concepts of designs you’d like to have brought to life in your custom jewelry piece.
Our designer will guide you throughout the entire design process during your consultation. We want you to be completely comfortable and happy with all aspects of the final design created.
Bostonian Jewelers is an early adopter of 3D CAD (Computer Aided Drawing) technology. We have been using 3D CAD design software in designing custom jewelry for nearly two decades. This step enables our clients to be visually involved throughout the entire design process.
At Bostonian Jewelers, we use very sophisticated imaging software that allows our clients to see their custom jewelry design completed in a virtual world. These are high resolution images of your completed piece of jewelry. Your approval is necessary before we move to the next step of production.
Once approved, Bostonian Jewelers utilizes high resolution 3D printers to create a working wax model of your custom jewelry design. This model serves two purposes. The first allows you to see and feel your custom jewelry. We will lay the gemstones into the appropriate areas, giving you a good sense of what your design will look like and feel like.
The second purpose is to use the model in the loss wax casting process. During this process, we make an impression of the wax, burn the wax out and replace the empty cavity with the precious metals of your choice.
Once the casting process is complete, your custom jewelry goes through multiple steps of finishing and polishing, blending and softening, hand engraving, micro-detail applications, and size adjustment.
After quality control is complete, your newly designed jewelry moves back to our administrative office for gemstones to be selected, calibrated and matched for size and quality. Once the gemstones are securely set, your jewelry will receive its final polish, producing the reflective surfaces characteristic of fine jewelry.
The final stop in the creation process is an industrial ultrasonic bath, followed by a high pressure steam to remove any remaining polishing compound residue. The item is quality controlled once again to make sure that the gemstones are secure and all of the surface finishes and details meet the requirements of Bostonian Jewelers’ high standards of production.
This is our favorite step of the entire process of creating fine custom jewelry. Seeing the first expression on the faces of our clients when they see their finished design for the first time is priceless. We have experienced and shared tears of joy, and emotions that accompany these special moments. This is the reward for the energy and passion that makes Bostonian Jewelers products truly unique and much loved!
